THE Y ASTORIA

The Y Astoria is a newly renovated former Y.M.C.A. in Astoria, Oregon that currently houses multiple creative businesses, artist studio spaces and a five bedroom apartment.

The ground floor houses Shift+Wheeler and Gathered Bakeshop and Market.

Shift+Wheeler is a workshop and showroom featuring the work of makers/designers Nick Wheeler and Becky Tonkin in Astoria, Oregon. Becky and Nick make durable waxed canvas bags and natural fiber clothing for all folks and sizes! If it doesn't fit, they'll make one that does.

Gathered Bakeshop and Market makes beautiful cakes and pastries decorated with locally grown edible flowers. Made to order or to enjoy right there in the bakeshop with a fresh cup of coffee, tea, or afternoon glass of wine. Gathered also offers all your grocery staples, locally sourced goods and produce.

The top floor of The Y Astoria has been turned back into its original use of temporary lodging. With a renovated 2500 sq ft private apartment, including a well equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms, five bedrooms and a spacious living area. The thoughtfully designed Y DORMITORY was built out to accommodate visiting artists and workshop instructors occupying the gym, but is also available to the general public to stay and enjoy Astoria and the Pacific North West.

For bookings and availability check here.

The former 5000 square foot gymnasium is now a collective studio space and home to Astoria Sign Studio, a screen printing studio, animation and design studio Velvet Spectrum and with dedicated room for workshops and meetings. We are also working on artist-in-residence opportunities for certain periods of the year in combination with The Y DORMITORY.
